Introduction
Welcome to Resilience Training provided by Beaumont Coaching.
Why should I care about Resilience? Because Resilience is what helps you succeed in life and contributes to your sense of happiness and fulfillment. Resilient people are generally happier people who achieve more in life and feel a greater sense of satisfaction.
In this module we are going to introduce the concept of resilience and why it is so important.
Module 1: What is Resilience
This Module explores definitions of Resilience, why it's important in life, and what helps and hinders your Resilience.
The role of emotions is discussed, with particular reference to how the negative emotions which ensured our survival thousands of years ago can get in the way of our happiness and success in the pressures of modern-day life.
Being in control of your emotions is an essential part of Resilience.

🔒 LockedModule 2: Using Resilience to Move out of Your Comfort Zone
Having learnt about what being Resilient means in Module 1, we now begin to learn strategies for building Resilience. This module presents the first two of these, and is designed to encourage you to move outside of your comfort zones.
If you only ever do what is comfortable you don't learn as much and limit your potential. Resilient people are able to take risks (calculated, not extreme, ones) and actively push themselves into new experiences. However, in order to do this, you need to feel "safe".
The videos in this module will get you thinking about how and when we fall into the trap of playing it safe, and how we can detach from negative emotions in order to risk moving out of our comfort zones.

🔒 LockedModule 3: Managing Your Emotions
This module builds on the role of negative emotions presented in Module 1 by introducing the Puppy, Adult and Computer Model, which is a simple way to explain which part of your brain is in control of your responses in any given situation.
Impulse control is a key factor in Resilience; the videos in this Module will help you to understand how to keep a check on your emotions, so that you are happier and achieve better outcomes.

🔒 LockedModule 4: Building Your Resilience Resources
In Module 1 we explored the analogy of the rollercoaster. From that video we learnt how important it is when you're high up on the rollercoaster to take the opportunity to build up your stores of Resilience for when you hit the low times in life.
The videos in this Module let you practice two very simple strategies to start building your Resilience resources – the Gift List and the Success Journal – before exploring the role of self-talk in increasing or diminishing your ability to stay Resilient.

The Resilience-building strategies presented in this Module are excellent for decreasing your stress levels.
Make sure that you have pen and paper to hand before watching the Circles of Influence video, as you will be practising the strategy as the animation progresses.
It is also useful, before watching, to jot down a list of the sorts of challenges you face in your daily life. These may be anything from having to get up early in the morning, to the amount of homework you have, to how long you have to wait to get the bus home. You will then use these in the Reframing Strategy.
